Visual Card Description:  Ammit stands on a platform, his mouth wide and ready to devour evildoers.  He has one victim crouching at his feet.  Another one is crouching hidden under the platform, terrified of being eaten.

Free Association:  End of Existence, Punishment, Justice, Fate, Consequence, Cheating the System, Unwillingness to Own Mistakes

Rider-Waite/Traditional Associations:  The Devil is not as frightening a card to interpret as the depiction on most cards indicates. It is a card about bondage but often this bondage is metaphoric and internal. With this card  you are called to look beyond superficial appearances and to go deeper into the truth and meaning of a situation. You also are asked to remember that  when you’re feeling restrained you nearly always hold the keys to your own freedom. Don’t give up hope!

It’s important for you to remember that no matter what your situation, that you always have options to choose from. First things first, don’t let other people tell you that your options are limited. If you come to that conclusion, be sure that you are coming to it on your own. Regardless, it will be crucial to remember that you can free yourself from whatever restrictions are holding you back, at any time you choose to do so. You may have the feeling now that you are not in control of your life; sometimes this happens as a result of your own actions, but more often as a byproduct of inaction.  So, take action, take whatever steps you can to give yourself the feeling, however slight, of being in control. Even if that is merely making a choice on what you are going to have for dinner. Small steps are important, too.

Meaning from the lwb (little white book that came with this deck):  Sexual Attraction, enchantment, fascination, suggestion.  Originality, difference.  A person gifted with strong magnetism.  Illegal actions, doubtful morality, egoism.

My interpretation:  This card warns against what the result may be of excesses of the wrong thing in our lifetime.  Either now you will be atoning for unequal treatments or actions, or you’re receiving a warning for the bad outcome that will follow your actions if you continue in this vein.
