Violeta is Rootnamed!

with 11 comments

Happy day! My baby daughter has been rootnamed (thank you, Rev. Siuda!) and was born on the day “prolonging life and making Ma’at beneficial in the temple,” and so her name is ANKHEMHEBET, or “life is in festival.” (nickname is Ankhbet, pronounciation ANKH-em-HEB-et).

Since it’s a day for Ma’at, anyone could be the godfather/mother, and many came forward! Thank you to those who came forward and blessings on you all!

  1. I’m honored to have been there and look forward to sending Ankhbet (and you!) my love over the years.

  2. So, in KO, you have an RPD, but your also given a name based on the day you were born?

    • In KO children under the age of consent can not become Shemsu (fully converted members of the temple), however, children born of Shemsu are offered a “rootname” in the faith until the day they are old enough to choose this faith for themselves and become Shemsu… at which time they are given a Shemsu name and take their vows.

    • ZabetRa answered spot on. The Shemsu name is a name you’re given by your Parent netjer after taking the Shemsu vow. The rootname is just based on the day you’re born. 😀
